- 4-H is the Cooperative Extension System's dynamic, nonformal educational program for young people. Its mission is to create supportive environments for culturally diverse youth and adults to reach their fullest potential. The program combines the cooperative efforts of youth, volunteer leaders, state land-grant universities, federal, state, local governments and the CSREES of the United States Department of Agriculture. There is a Cooperative Extension staff responsible for 4-H programs in every county and city - so there's probably a 4-H program near you.
