- Africa Adventure Safaris was started by Danie Steyn in 1990. Even though there were a few tour operators in Namibia who offered scheduled coach and minibus tours, not many operated adventure type safaris where camping was included in the more remote, wilderness areas.
- Namibia offers such a wide range of interesting and beautiful places that when AAS started operations, it was decided to offer more adventure type safaris to visitors. These range from specialised photographic safaris and ethnic safaris to special interest and private groups.
