ANDREAS DARWIS TRIADI was born in 1954 in Solo, a town in central Java about 300 miles from Jakarta. He was brought up in a cultural environment in a traditional Javanese manner and at an early age became interested in painting. He particularly admired Rembrandt and his talent in using light. He bought many photo books and took in a long line of seminars. By 1981 he was ready to start his own professional photographic career.
