Description
Excerpted from the website:
- Founded in 1964, and incorporated as a not-for-profit entity in the State of New York, in 1996, the African-Atlantic Genealogical Society is tax exempt under Article 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. The organization is comprised of Americans whose ancestors have had an "African" or an "Atlantic-crossing" experience. (We may have come over in different ships, but we're all in the same boat now).
- Our goals are to support and contribute to genealogical, historical and multi-cultural research; promote scholarly writing via complied genealogies and research aids; provide education services via lectures, workshops, seminars and community outreach programs; promote self-esteem through self-knowledge and encourage multi-cultural appreciation through multi-cultural exchange.
