Historically Africana was a term credited to an auctioneer early in the last century, to describe books and other cultural artifacts relating to the subcontinent of Africa, south of the Zambezi River. Lately this has been expanded somewhat; rightly so, since the term should include the total literature of and about the Dark Continent,and arguably, written work by African-born, or resident authors, even if the subject matter deals with other regions of the world.
That is exactly what Africana Books is about. We try to locate, preserve and make available thousands of out-of-print titles dealing with dozens of subjects with one common theme - Africa. We are part of the TomFolio co-operative family of booksellers.
