The Institute was founded by graduates of the Associate Diploma in Applied Science (Landscape) to promote the professions of Landscape Design and Environmental Management and to support landscape practitioners.
In the years since its inception, well over 600 members have joined. Membership is Australia-wide with most located in NSW. The strength of the Institute lies in the professional skills of its members, which is why only individuals and not businesses can be registered as Members.
The History of AILDM Ltd
On May 19, 1993 a group of students of the Associate Diploma in Applied Science (Landscape) course met in the Student Room of Charlestown TAFE to discuss their proposal to establish a professional body to serve the needs of graduates of the Associate Diploma course. Those attending that meeting agreed to establish a Convening Committee to organise a general meeting to enlist support for their endeavour. TAFE teacher, David Copland, was asked to advise the committee.
