- AllJazz was founded in 1988 by George Wilson (he's my Dad.) He'd been collecting jazz records seriously for about fifteen years before that. As the size of his collection grew (and the comments from my mother increased about "not being able to get anything in the basement anymore") he decided that one way to take care of all the records that he had would be to auction some of them off. This was long before the internet, so he sat down at his computer, typed up a list, mailed it out to a few guys and the rest is history.
