Additional Information

At Aloha, a typical restoration is both a relatively long and short process.

We start out by getting your car here for us to look over and inspect. We then put together an estimate contract.

Upon signing and a negotiated deposit, we begin work… basically we tear it down and then send the body out for acid dipping. This process removes all paint and rust so that we can see exactly what the condition is. If at that time there are any unexpected rust holes or other damage, we will re-assess and re-write the estimate for fabrication time to then be a “locked in” estimate. Upon your signing of that contract we get back to work.

Any metal damage gets repaired in our fabrication shop, while the engine is getting tore down and inspected in our machine shop. At the same time the mechanic assigned to your project starts taking apart the sub assemblies for restoration and re-assembly. Once all the sub assemblies are re-assembled, they get stored in our warehouse until it is time for the car to be put back together.

Once the metal is all repaired, the body will get sent back to get a re-dip and then e-coated. The purpose of this is to seal all of the metal from the inside out and the outside in. This is our best effort to prevent new rust from forming in the future.

By this time your engine has been completely rebuilt and run in on our run-stand. The run stand insures there are no leaks, no noises, valves are re-adjusted, and basic carburetor adjustments are performed so that it is a turn-key engine when it’s installed in your pride and joy.

When the body returns about six weeks after it was sent out for e-coat, it will move into our body shop for what most enthusiasts call “artwork”. This process includes an initial sanding of the e-coat, a thin layer of filler is applied to areas that may have small imperfections, then sanded, primed, blocked, primed again, and then a final blocking for that mirrored finish before our PPG paint is applied.

Our “artisans” are then ready for paint. They work their magic to create some of the richest, deepest, and straightest paint jobs in the country.

Once your car is painted, some reassembly begins, but any major assembly doesn’t begin for a few weeks until we feel that the paint has fully cured. Once cured, the car will be wet sanded and buffed to perfection. At this point it will move once again, but this time to our service department for final assembly.

Our techs will assemble all the components in about 4 – 6 weeks time. Once this is complete it will then get a front end and head light alignment to insure that your car drives straight and sees straight.

Last but not least the car will be dyno tuned to insure it’s optimum performance and drive-ability.
