- About Austin Hardwood Flooring
- Austin Hardwood Flooring is a third generation family business started by my grandfather, Sam Weinman in 1946. Sam was a Polish immigrant, brought to this country when he was 9 years old to escape the anti-Semitism and poor treatment of the Jewish people in pre-war Poland. He started his business by installing hardwood floors in the Bronx in 1946. By 1952, Sam moved the business (and his family) to Westchester County, New York, where he and my grandmother, Sylvia, opened a showroom and warehouse and expanded the business. Sam and Sylvia located in Elmsford, NY, where the business continues running strong today, run by my father, Larry Weinman, and is now the largest hardwood flooring company in the Tri-State area. In 2001, my sister, Naomi, opened the internet business, HardwoodDirect.com; and now in 2005, my husband, Don Morehart, and I will continue the tradition with Austin Hardwood Flooring.
