Title

Belterra Baroque Horses... Breeders of Andalusians, Friesians and Warlander Crosses

Description

Excerpted from the website:

BelTerra sits on twenty acres of Wisconsin bluegrass fields with another large parcel loaned to us for driving and riding. We have a rather unique indoor arena with large, unbreakable windows on both sides and fibar-type footing. The windows and large cupolas allow much light and ventilation in summer while being closed but light in winter. Our stallions, mares and boarding visitors use paddocks that all have run-in sheds, and mares and babies live mostly outdoors all year long. Since we built our home on the property, and have trainers who live nearby, we are able to give our horses constant care and attention. It is a dream come true to look out our windows and see the babies playing together in the pastures! We provide full training in the European Classical tradition with riding instruction available to clients who keep their beloved horses with us. The training provided by FEI trainer Sivan Sat & visiting clinicians compliments the daily training Cynthia and her staff provide in ground manners and early training including ground driving, advanced longeing and corrective methods. The stallions all learn to stand in the barn aisle regardless of mares in stalls near them. We are the "lead mares" and all must do our bidding. All the horses understand where they rank in the herd thus avoiding any serious lapses in discipline. They are treated with respect unless they demonstrate a lack of respect! We pride ourselves in daily work with the young and with all horses in training. We are a team since it does no good to train the horse if we send it home to an owner who does not continue the training. The horse becomes confused and resentful, not to mention the fact that you have wasted your money ! As Cynthia is bilingual, she often interprets for the Spanish judges at IALHA shows as well as for the Cria Caballar (Spanish Studbook Judges). She travels often back to Spain and is very knowledgeable about the history of the Andalusian. BelTerra's interest in Friesians stems from her knowledge of the Baroque period in history when Spain ruled the Netherlands and contributed greatly to the development of the Friesian. We admire its wonderful temperament, size, gaits and adore our few, wonderful Friesians..
