Description
Bethlehem Blast Youth Hockey is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing travel hockey and skills development to boys and girls in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding region. The Blast is a proud member in good standing of the Delaware Valley Hockey League. Blast home games and practices are held in the new Steel Ice Center, a twin-rink facility in South Side Bethlehem.
Formerly known as Thunder Youth Hockey, the Blast changed its name to honor the steelworkers who labored for generations on the site where the new rink is located. The Blast’s logo features the silhouette of a blast furnace and shows molten steel pouring from a vat.
Prior to changing its name, Thunder had been a member of the DVHL for 12 years. Thunder’s dedicated staff of coaches and parents instilled the love of hockey in hundreds of boys and girls from ages 4 to 18. Thunder players earned a reputation for good sportsmanship and teamwork. Thunder’s high-energy tournaments were known up and down the East Coast.
