Title

Blue Mountain Carving Duck Decoys

Description

Andrew Speer began carving as a hobby in 1989 in the Chesapeake Bay area, which has been one of the centers for decoy carving for the past 100 years. Duck hunting was one of the major industries, which created the need for the decoys. The decorative decoys have become popular in the past 30 years generating this new art segment.

Competitions are a popular way to showcase an artist and Andrew has won Open Class ribbons in the Virginia Beach Shows, Havre de Grace Shows, Ward World Shows, Upper Bay Shows, Chestertown Shows, Stone Harbor Shows, and the Susquehanna Flats Shows. Andrew also served on the Board of Directors for the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum which houses one of the finest collections of working and decorative Chesapeake Bay decoys ever assembled.

Andrew is now living near Montana's Flathead Lake and Glacier National Park studying the wildlife. He strives to create quality artwork with great detail and yet be able to offer his art at an affordable price.
