Originally this database was my attempt to collect and record all books having colour-printed illustrations or decorations from 15th century up to 1893 but later I decided to include books with craft colour-printing, especially auto-litho, woodblock and linocuts published into the 20th century. The first consolidated volume of my Chronology was published in 1993 and since then Supplements 1 to 5 have been published with Supplement 6 published in 2002.
Bibliographies have been written to assist research and are not necessarily in the accepted formal format nor in the format used by booksellers. Some cross-references and information from standard Reference Books to assist researchers. Books are referenced by the published date followed by the sequence number for that year. The Collection covers Publications from all over the world including at least ten different languages from Catalonian to Welsh.
Database also includes those books in the Collection with no verifiable date and the "Not in Collection" books. There is also a World Index of over 4000 Colour Printers with places and dates of publication and this is occasionally updated. The addition of a specimen image from each book is continuing, see also Book of the Month. The database is continually being updated and corrected and any relevant dates or corrections would be welcome.
