- Max Kielbratowski (born 1917), received a butchering and sausage making diploma in Poland in the 1930's. Having no refrigeration at this time, he started to use smoke to cook and preserve the meats. Ten to fifteen years later he immigrated to Nova Scotia for its' rich farmland, quality cattle and hogs, and most importantly, its' abundant maple tress for smoking his products. In 1951, Max established The Original Brothers Meats in Halifax.
