- Dennis Mitchell, who, like Ringo and George, has no middle name, became enamored of The Beatles at age 9, when his mother told him they were “a bunch of guys with weird haircuts.” Though she made no mention of music, Dennis found out soon enough what the buzz was about in early 1964. Sadly, his parents weren’t as appreciative of England’s Phenomenal Pop Combo, and Dennis missed that historic first appearance by the band on The Ed Sullivan Show. But he sneaked over to his buddy’s house up the street the following Sunday night and watched the second appearance, and it really was the life-changing experience so many Beatles fans describe upon first hearing them.
