The Chicano/Latino Caucus has its history steeped in activism. Formed out of the need to put the Chicano agenda in front of party leaders who saw the Chicano vote as auxiliary to the election of politicians. It became viable when Jerry Brown became governor. His election for the first time brought hundreds of Chicano/Latino activists to Sacramento in numbers.
