Elizabeth Cancer Detection Center - About ECCD

Description

The Elizabeth Center for Cancer Detection was founded by Elizabeth Mason Hohl, MD in 1944 to promote earlier detection of many late stage cancer patients she was seeing in her practice. The Center was first named the Cancer Prevention Society. In the 1970's with the advent of mammography, the organization was renamed the Cancer Detection Center to more accurately reflect its changing mission. Finally, in 2003, the organization was renamed the Elizabeth Center for Cancer Detection to recognize its founder in its 60th year of operation.

The Elizabeth Center for Cancer Detection is dedicated to saving lives through prevention and detecting cancer at its earliest, most curable stage.

The Center works to prevent cancer through its education services and to achieve early detection through cancer screening. Our services are available to everyone regardless of religion, ethnicity or economic status with special emphasis on the medically underserved. Patient fees are maintained at the lowest possible level based upon our costs. In this way we are doing what we can to reduce the incidence and mortality of cancer.
