About Me
My earliest memory is of sharing my pram with the family dog! I appear to have been born a collector and indeed started a "stamp club" whilst still at Junior School. I eventually began to specialise in collecting just dogs. In the late 1970s I met my partner, Sheila Bullock, (a fashion design graduate) and she encouraged me to start framing and selling postage stamps on specific subjects. In 1977 we formed Framed Philatelics and from 1979 have been dealing exclusively in only dog related art, collectables and memorabilia.
We attended our first Crufts show in 1979 and have been trading there every year since, in addition to other prestigious UK dog shows such as Windsor and the Ladies Kennel Association. As our business progressed, we moved away from dog stamps and framing and into other forms of printed dog art, such as Cigarette and Trade Cards, Picture Postcards, Limited Editions, Prints, Engravings, Etchings and Original Paintings. In 1988 I was commissioned by The Kennel Gazette (The Kennel Club's own publication) to write a series of breed specific articles on collectables. The series ran for 12 years and featured over 100 breeds. This led to many other commissions for articles, which have been published all over the world. At present I am the Auction and Fine Art correspondent for the weekly canine newspaper "Our Dogs" and write and illustrate the monthly "Paw Prints in History" breed features in "Dogs Today".
Additionally my long term interest in photography has gravitated towards dogs and my dog photographs have been published internationally as well as in leading UK newspapers such as the Guardian, the Daily Mail and the Daily Express. I am an official Kennel Club photographer and have worked with and for many of the leading UK dog charities such as Battersea Dogs Home, Dogs Trust (formally NCDL), the Blue Cross, Canine Partners, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, Dogs for the Disabled etc. My background, interests and profession give me a totally unique insight into the world of dogs and in particular dog art.
