September is NADA's Child Passenger Safety Month
The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) has proclaimed September 2006 Child Passenger Safety Month. Dealers across the country will host child safety seat inspections in their communities.
It's all part of NADA's national "Boost for Safety" campaign to help protect young passengers. More than 40,000 children under age four are injured or killed in car crashes annually, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). According to NHTSA, over 50,000 children between four and eight years-old are injured or killed in car crashes annually. Dealers are working to make a difference. Child Passenger Safety 101: The Basics
From birth to at least one year old and at least 20 pounds, children should be secured in the back seat in a rear-facing infant seat.
