Description

Mechanical Simulation Corporation

Mechanical Simulation Corporation is a software company in Ann Arbor, Michigan that develops and distributes software tools for simulating the way cars, trucks, motorcycles, and other vehicles with tires respond to driver controls under different environmental conditions.

The company markets many variants of a software tool for simulating and analyzing the way vehicles respond to steering, braking and acceleration inputs. CarSim is the main product, covering cars, light trucks, utility vehicles, and other vehicles with four wheels. (CarSim trailer includes four-wheeled vehicles towing one- and two-axle trailers.) TruckSim extends the concept to cover heavy-duty vehicles with dual wheels, asymmetric steering systems, multiple axles and single or multiple trailers. BikeSim simulates motorcycles and scooters.

These packages run on Windows-based PCs and provide a means for simulating the vehicle system, with similar input and outputs associated with physical testing of the vehicle. The software can be used by itself (no other tools required), or can be run with other simulation software such as MATLAB/Simulink, LabView, and other tools. These tools are also available for many real time (RT)simulation systems used for testing hardware in the loop (HIL), such as dSPACE, Opal-RT, National Instruments, ETAS, and others.
