- In 1984 Carter's Archery was nothing more than a fish market and bait shop. It remained this way until I decided to try to sell a few archery supplies, so I could hopefully support my archery hobby. Carter's Archery started in nothing more than a 36x36x42 display case. We figured that mostly friends would buy the archery supplies, so we were surprised when the archery soon began to outgrow the bait business. We had to close the bait shop and concentrate on the archery because it was growing faster than we'd ever dreamed.
