The U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has drafted newregulations for the safe handling of lead-based paints. These new regulations take effect April 22, 2010. The new regulations apply to any housing constructed prior to 1978. Other key provisions include that renovations must be performed by EPA-certified firms using certified renovators, and contractors must provide and document provision of lead-safety information pamphlet to occupant(s).
