Will Smith and Scientology
There has been further speculation that movie star Will Smith is turning all scientology on us. The former actor has defended his buddy, Tom Cruise’s impassioned stance on the religion and has admitted to doing a little in depth study into the late L. Ron Hubbards worldview. In a fairly recent interview with Men’s Vogue, Smith had called scientology “98 percent identical” to the teachings found Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism. While Smith does not go so far as coming out as yet another card carrying scientologist and admits to only being a bit of a dabbler in it, you have to wonder if he is going the way of Cruise and Travolta. Hopefully we will not be seeing a Battlefield Earth sequel starring Smith out anytime soon. In other Will Smith news: his latest film Hancock, about a reluctant superhero, has been doing quite well in the box office raking in 130 million bucks in its first week. Hmm, perhaps his new “friends” have been pulling on some cosmic strings for him.
Jason Priestley Not to Return to 90210
It looks like former nineties heartthrob, Jason Priestley, is not going to appear in the CW’s updated version of Beverly Hill’s 90210. Priestley has denied rumors that he was set to reprise his role as Brandon Walsh in the upcoming series, but has not said no to perhaps directed a few episodes. The new 90210 show is rumored to have both Shannon Doherty and Jenny Garth on board. When asked about the possibility of directing some of his former co-stars Jason was quoted as saying “that would be fun!” Hopefully the new 90210 will be as fun as the first series which garnered a huge following and lasted for what seemed like a billion seasons making people wonder if people in Beverly Hills actually ever graduate. Like his pal Luke Perry, who has also declined to appear in the show, Preistley has nothing but well wishes the new show, calling the idea “fantastic.”

It appears that Jessica Biel does not care about being “cool”, which of course by definition makes her cool right? Tom Cruise has given ex-wife and new mother Nichole Kidman a big basket of expensive baby themed gifts to congratulate her and husband Keith Urban on their new arrival. There have been no reports as to whether Tom desires to discuss Scientology with the newborn. Raven Simone has somehow managed to stay “grounded” despite her semi-popularity after being a child star on the Cosby show. Brooke Hogan is not particularly thrilled that her 48-year-old mother is dating a guy who is nineteen but is learning to cope with the odd things people do after a divorce. Brooke is also apparently worried about her brother who is doing time in jail, which comes as a shock to no one at all. Also, in case somebody actually cares, Michael Buble just broke up with his girlfriend Emily Blunt. Looks like we will not get to see a Buble-Blunt headline in the engagement section of the paper.
