Background

The Caribbean Forest Conservation Association (CFCA) is a membership, environmental non-governmental organisation. It is a non-profit organisation and operates under a constitution and set of rules.

The Caribbean Forest Conservation Association (CFCA) came into being out of concern for issues of deforestation as a result of the devastating forest fires in Trinidad in 1987. CFCA was created by a citizen-based action-oriented group to advocate and lobby for conservation of forest ecosystems, biodiversity and the sustainable use of forest resources by all stakeholders. The Association believes that only an informed and alerted public can make the decisions necessary to protect and manage our forests and natural resources in a wise and sustainable manner. We aim to promote and advance field research and implement practical projects which will contribute to the conservation and wise, sustainable use of our forests and natural resources by all stakeholders. CFCA was founded in April 1989 and incorporated by an Act of Parliament on the 28th of August 1991.
