Founded in 1977, Chapel Hill Rare Books has become one of the leading international rare book and manuscript dealers in the United States. We are located in scenic downtown Chapel Hill, home of the University of North Carolina. Duke University is situated eight miles away in Durham. We specialize in the areas of Americana, l9th and 20th century English and American literary first editions, but we also offer fine books and manuscripts in various additional fields. Currently, we maintain an inventory of greater than twelve thousand items, many of which may be accessed through this website. Approximately six catalogues are issued annually and this website is updated on a regular basis.
We offer collection development services and consulting to institutions and individuals, many of whom we represent at major book and manuscript auctions throughout the United States. Of course, we are always eager to purchase fine single items or entire collections.
