Chekody Kennels is owned by Mel Saxinger & Mark Titley. Mel has owned Malamutes since 1996, when she was introduced to CH Chukchi Silva Wulfs - Kody. Mel had wanted a Malamute since she was about 6 years old when she saw her first Malamute while on a skiing holiday in Austria. When Mel met Kody and Andy Sainsbury (Kody's owner), well that was the beginning of her life in Malamutes.
After a few years, Mel got into showing, just shortly after Kody had passed away and we couldn't live without a Malamute. Mel contacted a few breeders and learnt about showing and bought our first show dog Kain and went from there. Kain never worked out as a show dog and is now the king couch potato. We'd tried a few more dogs to begin Chekody Kennels, some being successful, some not so successful, but it's been a great learning experience for Mel and she wouldn't change any of it.
Mark use to own and show German Shepherds. After many years without a dog, he decided he wanted to get back into dogs. After he met a few Malamutes, he knew he had to have one. He took on Poss and hasn't looked back. He is now a part of Chekody Kennels and we are looking forward to our future partnership.
