Description
Citizen Alert was founded in 1975 in response to federal government plans to dump high-level nuclear waste in Nevada. For over thirty years now, our mission has been to ensure public participation and government accountability on issues that affect the land and people of Nevada.
Central to our mission is active outreach to the community that crosses all racial, ethnic, gender, and economic lines. We believe a united Nevada can overcome the serious environmental and public health threats we face everyday.
Citizen Alert is an active member of the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability (ANA), a national network of grassroots organizations working in the shadows of the nuclear complex. Locally, Citizen Alert is active with such diverse groups including the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Hispanics in Politics (HIP), and others.
