- My interest in clouds and weather has aesthetic and professional roots. I worked for 33 years as a research meteorologist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the University of Wyoming, and the University of Colorado. That career included dozens of far-flung field projects, observing and measuring atmospheric processes from the ground with weather radars and from the air in research aircraft, and "prospecting" for good wind power sites decades before T. Boone Pickens had even heard of wind energy. It was natural and fun to combine my nature photography and hiking hobbies with my career. Several of my photographs appear in textbooks, scientific journals, dissertations, and on science web sites. Now, in retirement, I'm concentrating on the photography and on getting my images out to a wider audience.
