Description
I believe that handcrafted jewelry and artwork should be reasonably priced and a pleasure to wear, see and touch. Many of the beads I choose are handmade, adding uniqueness to each piece. In combining many types of beads (including amber, semi-precious stone, crystal, glass, ceramic, shell, and carved nuts) I seek to create a mood sparked by some aspect of Nature. My jewelry and glass art have been variously described as elegant, folkloric and playful.
About Susan
II have worked in many media over the last 20 years: sumi-e, charcoal, beadwork, embroidery, fused glass, macrame, sewing, weaving, and wirework. The varying possibilities of color, texture and expression attracted me to each of these artistic forms.
My degrees in Anthropology and Library Science have given me experience with different cultures and histories. My artistic works incorporate my own personal feelings with authentic elements of the different folkloric traditions I’ve researched.
