Dr. Hodgkinson has been practising cosmetic and reconstructive surgery since the 1970's. To become a plastic surgeon with special qualifications in cosmetic surgery, he first qualified as a medical doctor, and then spent a further eight years in postgraduate training. With the support of Dr Victor Chang, one of his surgical instructors, he was selected for and spent five years of this at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in the United States, followed up by a six month surgical fellowship specialising in cosmetic surgery in Newport Beach, California.
He was then in private and university practice in North America before returning home to Australia after 17 years overseas and still practices in Baltimore, Maryland several times each year.
