Title

National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL)

Description

Prominent defense lawyer and NACDL Past President Nancy Hollander issued a statement following the apparent suicides of three Guantanamo prisoners condemning the United States Government for failing to uphold the responsibilities and rights of the criminal justice system. Holding more than 400 men and boys in custody for over four years without setting hearing dates or even filing charges "makes a mockery of justice," she says. "If the government does not have probable cause to believe these prisoners committed crimes against the United States, it must immediately free them. The world is watching," she warned.
