Description

Colorado Springs Dental Society

The Colorado Springs Dental Society (CSDS), a non-profit organization registered as a corporation with the State of Colorado, was founded in 1902 as a component society of the American Dental Association (ADA) (national) and of the Colorado Dental Association (CDA) (state). Its purpose is to promote the dental health of the public in the Pikes Peak region, to advance the art and the science of dentistry, to represent the interest of the members of the dental profession and the public which it serves, to foster an awareness of the obligations and the responsibilities of the dental profession to society, and to provide opportunities for an exchange of ideas among members.

Ninety per cent of the dentists in the Pikes Peak region are members who agree to subscribe to the ADA's Principles of Ethics and Code of Conduct. The CSDS' territory as prescribed by the CDA includes the counties of El Paso, Cheyenne, Elbert, Kit Carson, and Lincoln. (See map below.)

The CSDS is governed by an elected Board of Directors and managed by an executive director. Services to the public include referrals to member dentists, mediation and arbitration in resolving conflicts with dentists, and participation in Dentists With a Heart and in National Children's Dental Health Month. Services to member dentists include networking and continuing-education opportunities, verification of credentials, patient referrals, assistance in office staffing, peer review, and an active dental society representing the needs and the interests of dentists in the community.
