International Cut Coins has been creating cut coin jewelry by hand for over 27 years, with more than a quarter million pieces sold. Cutting coins is perfectly legal. Section 331, title 18 of the U.S. code, prohibits, among other things, the fraudulent alteration and mutilation of U.S. and foreign coins. For example, it is illegal to alter the date, or mintmark of an inexpensive common coin so that it has the date and mintmark of a valuable rare coin. This statute does not prohibit the mutilation of coins if done without fraudulent intent, or if the coins are not used fraudulently.
We, Sid & Lee, started creating cut coin jewelry more than a quarter century ago in Sacramento California. We started at the local flea market, and graduated to art & craft shows, traveling the United States. We are now exhibiting our beautiful cut coins in out door crafts and festivals.
