Description
I began my Doula services in 1997. I am a Certified Doula through Doulas of North America (DONA) . I have taken many training courses, and feel very fortunate to have attended workshops with Doula trainer, and published author, Penny Simkin. Also, I have re ceived training through Kaiser Permanente , which focused on V-backs and teen mothers. In addition, I have completed a labor massage and childbirth preparation courses. I receive continuing education from DONA , International Childbirth Education Association ( ICEA ), and Northwest Area Childbirth Educators Forum ( NACEF ).
In over fifty births, I have supported clients in natural, medicated, and cesarean births. I have attended both home and hospital births, and provided Doula support at the first water birth at Kaiser Permanente, Sunnyside Hospital.
I draw on my own personality to provide emotional support for you and your family, and on my knowledge and experience to provide physical comfort and make suggestions for labor progress. This includes, relaxation, massage, positioning, and other comfort techniques. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner through out labor. If needed, I will communicate with the staff to make sure that they provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions; I will support what ever decision you and your partner make. As your Doula, I am working for you, not the caregiver or hospital. Another role as a labor assistant, is to support the father and help him support his partner. My goal is to create a circle of love between mother, father, and baby.
