Description
Hi! I'm Mary Desjean and and I am the one woman show behind Desjean Design. A few things about me: I'm a San Diego native. My only time apart from the city was when I attended college at Boston University to get my BS in journalism. While my background is in journalism, I have always had a lingering love for design and layout. I discovered my interest in layouts and designs late in my college years. I am primarily self-taught and have learned a lot about web design over the years. During my time in Boston, I worked as the web site director for the now defunct web site, InsideGuide.com. I created a web site centered around Boston University. It was a short lived project where I designed, wrote, recruited writers, and advertised about the campus and the city of Boston. I also worked as a mentor at Teen Voices Magazine as a web assistant. I mentored and taught teenage girls about HTML, web design, and computers. I have also worked as an editor at collegesports.com. In addition to working for myself, I also freelance for a couple of web site design companies in Southern California. In my spare time, I run an e-zine called The Plain Jane with one of my best friends.
Aside from web site design, I've also done some freelance writing and had an article published in a special spring issue of Paper Crafts magazine. I have also worked on a book, where I did the layout and graphics for Check Yourself into College: a quick and easy guide for high school students.
