There are two types of coffee beans being offered in the commercial market, Robusta and Arabica. Arabica is the better and more expensive of the two. Why?, because Arabica beans are grown at high altitudes, over 5000 feet, and come from a semi-tropical to tropical climate. Also ripe arabica cherries, (unroasted beans) fall to the ground and spoil, they must be carefully monitored and picked at intervals, this costs money, so naturally the beans are more expensive.
