Donnie Munro has annouced the first of his concert dates for 2006. He will perform in East Kilbride on Saturday 27th May, as part of the Artburst festival. He is due on stage at 9pm and the main stage is located in Hunter Street, in the old village of East Kilbride. This is a free event and you simply turn up and enjoy the music. Other bands will be performing throughout the day. He will also be appearing at the 2006 Speyfest Music Festival in Fochabers on Thursday 3rd August - more details can be found on the Speyfest website www.speyfest.com. Finally for now, you can pop up to Inverness the next day (Friday 4th August) and see him in concert there too.
The latest news regarding the new album release (working title is Heart of America). is that hopefully the album will be released by Greentrax Recordings on the 1st July, 2006. I am also very pleased to add that the "Donnie Munro and Friends" DVD will finally be released in April, 2006. The DVD is a must for all Donnie Munro fans. You can buy the DVD through River Records directly at www.riverrecords.com or in the shops from April 24th.
Donnie Munro Signs to Greentrax Recordings
Donnie announced at Celtic Connections 2006 that he has signed to Scottish-based record label Greentrax Recordings. In an interview Donnie said " I am delighted to be signing to one of Scotland's finest record companies and one which has played such a major role in developing and sustaining the industry here in Scotland. It is so important that we are able to create, sustain and develop on indigenous music industry to support the vast pool of talent which exists here in Scotland and that musicians, especially young emerging talent, can look to the support of a professional industry. Scotland's musicians offer a wonderful platform for Scotland to project itself on the internationalstage and, for many people visiting Scotland, music has been their first point of contact."
