John Wiessinger
John Wiessinger is a wildlife artist, naturalist and educator on the staff of the Roger Tory Peterson Institute. John has written and illustrated five books on nature, been illustrator for several other books and produced his own natural history educational series that has been used in zoos, museums, and nature centers across the U.S. and Canada. John feels that the natural world right before our eyes is full of interesting, relevant information and concepts that can be used to improve science literacy for all ages and interest levels and he is eager to share this with people who may have no other access to natural history.
Solon Morse
Solon Morse joined the Roger Tory Peterson Institute staff in September of 2000 as Education Program Associate. He received a MS in Ecology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1996, where he taught several undergraduate courses, including Ornithology and Vertebrate Natural History. Solon worked on a number of large-scale research projects in Southern Illinois, all of which examined the impacts of forest management on migratory birds. Solonís own research investigated the reproductive success of Kentucky Warblers in a multiple-use forest tract in the Shawnee National Forest.
The Roger Tory Peterson Institute
Roger Tory Peterson (1908-1996) was the "father of the field guide" and the person who brought the tools for learning about the natural world into every person's home. ÊIt did it with his books, paintings, and countless articles in the popular press, documentary films and superb still photographs.
