In 1946 Floyd Ellis and Harry Strodtbeck founded Ellis & Strodtbeck Ready Mixed Concrete with six employees and three 1½ yard portable concrete mixers. In 1955 Floyd Ellis and his brother Gerrard renamed the company to Ellis Brothers, Inc. (after purchasing Mr. Strodtbeck's interests). During the 1970's the Mount Vernon Corporate Headquarters was built, with a complete makeover in 1988 including an expansion of the building. Today Ellis Brothers, Inc.
