Title

The Empire Center for New York State Policy

Description

The Empire Center for New York State Policy, a project of the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, is dedicated to fostering greater economic growth, opportunity and individual responsibility in the Empire State. Through research papers, policy briefings, commentaries and conferences, the Empire Center will seek to educate and inform New York State policymakers, news media and the general public.

The Manhattan Institute was founded in 1978 to develop and disseminate new ideas that foster greater economic choice and individual responsibility. Gaining a reputation for "turning intellect into influence," the Institute has supported and publicized research on a wide range of public policy issues, including taxes, welfare, crime, the legal system, urban life, race, education, and many other topics.

In addition to commissioning special policy research projects, the Empire Center will highlight the expertise of Manhattan Institute scholars in such fields as education, health care and civil justice reform. The Empire Center will also work to develop a network of scholars from colleges and universities throughout New York whose work can contribute to the development of public policy in the Empire State.
