- FiveRuns was founded in 2005 by a team of systems management professionals and is backed primarily by Austin Ventures. We spent the summer of 2005 conducting market research to validate our go-to-market model and refine our product strategy. We conducted a series of in-depth focus groups around the country and interviewed IT professionals from various size companies in order to better understand their open source usage and deployment trends as well as their needs in the systems management area. In the spring of 2006, we previewed our offering at a few select user conferences and received rave reviews.
