Traders, has specialised in sourcing environmentally friendly, recycled timbers, in particular Jarrah and Karri. Jarrah and Karri are among the world’s finest hardwoods. These heavy and durable eucalyptus species are highly valued for both construction and fine cabinetwork. These timbers are recovered from old buildings and structures such as Woolstores and old Colonial houses. These sources provide naturally seasoned wood, selected for the colour and grain, often over 50 to 150 years old and originally obtained from mature trees many of which were well over one hundred years old when felled. This mature timber is significantly more stable than younger timbers and can often have significant historical value. Fremantle Timber Traders also mill timber from forrest floor logs which yield high quality large dimension posts and beams.
