In my narratives I try to tell a story, while putting my opinions aside and appreciating the need of readers to make of facts what they will. This is a history of ideas and beliefs as well as events, told without without favor or hostility but also avoiding the distortion and superficiality of those histories that include only those facts that do not offend.
I appreciate anyone challenging whatever I write as fact or fail to include. The site has benefited from the scrutiny of professional scholars and others, and I look forward to more improvements. I would appreciate your help no matter how small. And you are most welcome to tell me of books - yours or those of others - that have details that I could use.
My opinions about past developments are expressed separate from my historical narrative. Book summaries are for adding historical information rather than critiques on authors.
