Description
Galloway House Estate is a coastal estate built and landscaped from 1740 by the Earl of Galloway, the head of the Stewart clan. It remained the family's main residence until 1908 when the estate was sold.
The 600 acre farm is now owned and run by the McCreath family. It is an organic dairy farm, with the milk sold as Scottish Organic Milk and the Aberdeen Angus beef available in Waitrose. The estate lies between Whithorn - Scotland's earliest Christian settlement established by St. Ninian - and Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town.
"The whole cottage feels a bit like climbing into a churn of buttermilk.The walls are painted in soft Farrow and Ball shades, the carpeting is a nice natural seagrass and the downstairs curtains are the result of some nifty recycling of old tartan blankets. In fact, the effect of all this wholesome good taste is that it makes you want to start cooking cottage pie."
