Gamezilla was founded in April, 1996 and went online in July, 1996 with a whopping five reviews - one by each of its founding members. Since that time, we have continued to deliver quality content on games and gaming, while undergoing the usual ups and downs of entertainment publishing, including: rapid expansion, multiple site redesigns and one threatened lawsuit by a giant corporation with no sense of humor. (We used to have a little fire-breathing lizard for a logo, which Toho Co., Ltd. felt looked a bit too much like their own Tokyo-destroying trademark—go figure.) We have also been through a couple of management changes, the latest of which was the purchase of Gamezilla by its original parent company Allyis (formerly Essential Design).
As of June, 2004, Gamezilla serves up close to a million reviews, cheats, and walkthroughs each month to over 240,000 readers in 55 countries. We are independently owned and operated, which means our reviews are free of bias from any corporate game makers—we are here to serve the game playing public and to build a community with you, our readers.
Our mission is simple: to offer you reviews and previews of the latest games and hardware, so you know what's worth your time and money. We're also always on the lookout for cheats, hints, and walkthroughs for the games you're playing, so please feel free to get involved and pass on your insights and ideas.
