Mr. G.B.Senanayake considered the second greatest Sinhalese author in modern times, is popularly known by his initials, G.B. which stand for Gunathilaka Bandara. Born on the 13th of July 1913 as the youngest in a family of four boys, Mr. Senanayake had his education at Ananda College in Colombo, Sri Lanka.That he was a learned scholar in Sinhala grammar even in his early days can be ascertained from the contents of one of his memoirs where he has claimed that no teacher in his school could compete that with him on the subject.
