Gold Country Water Polo is a sanctioned US Masters Water Polo club and a registered 501 C3 Non-Profit organizationlocated located in Sacramento California. Our year-round program provides the opportunity for men and women to train and play water polo at a world class facility, in a fun and competitive environment. GCWP player skill levels range from intermediate to advanced and ages from high school to 50+. Whatever your experience level, we have a place for you!
Gold Country Water Polo was founded in the mid-90's, at Sierra Community College. Over the past five years, GCWP and its athletes have been competing competitively throughout the United States, and the world. Members of GCWP have played for some of America's top ranked NCAA programs. Current and past members of our program include members of Stanford's 2002 NCAA men's championship team; athletes at Loyola Marymount Univ, San Diego State, UC San Diego, UOP, UC Santa Cruz and University of Indiana. Gold Country is also home to former members of the Australian National League's Sydney West Magpies.
Our primary goal at GCWP is two fold. First we desire to be one of the premiere water polo clubs in California. We desire to be known for playing a quality brand of fast paced defensive water polo. Secondly, we strive to grow the sport of water polo in Northern California by fostering the development of a younger generation of players through development camps and training sessions. We will continue working with local high schools to provide an opportunity for athletes to compete at a higher level against more experienced and knowledgeable individuals.
