- The GWHAT project is a proposal to help improve K-12 social studies education by leveraging the broad reach and collaborative power of the Internet to provide new ways of teaching history and geography. The GWHAT's immediate goal is to deliver an education-focused application and content solution to teachers and students for free (no cost!). The content will be high-quality, high-level and comprehensive, covering the extent of human civilization. The application will be a map browser that can "play" animated and interactive maps showing history against a geographic background. The net result will be easy to find, easy to customize, map-based teaching materials for all teachers with Internet access.
