Since the mid 1970's David Himmelberger has been involved in quality of life and economic evaluations. He participated in the planning and analysis of the landmark clinical trials with Auranofin, an oral gold treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. From this experience it was clear that the quantitative measurement of health outcomes would play a major role in the future of health care throughout the world. After many years as a biostatistician at Stanford University and experience in the pharmaceutical industry in strategic planning, international marketing research and outcomes evaluation, Health Outcomes Group was founded in 1987.
