We would like to share a positive experience that we had recently at an RV park in Huntsville, TX (just north of Houston, TX) called Heartland RV Park. On Thursday, September 22, 2005, we evacuated our home which is just northwest of Houston. Hurricane Rita was bearing down on the Texas Gulf Coast as a Category 5 Hurricane. We left Houston with our RV in tow to escape the wrath of Rita. After traveling 21 hours, we arrived in Huntsville, TX which is only about 70 miles north of our home. We had intended to make it much further, but couldn’t because there was no fuel available. All of the gas stations had run out of fuel due to the mass exodus from the Gulf Coast. We had brought our Woodall’s Directory and began searching for an RV park that we could reach with the limited gasoline we had in our tank. Thank goodness we found Heartland RV Park in our directory! We weathered out Hurricane Rita on Saturday, September 23, 2005 at the Heartland RV Park. After Rita had passed through, the park became our refuge for 7 days until we could get fuel and return back to our home. The owners of the park went above and beyond the call of duty to help us and many others who were affected by Hurricane Rita. At one point, the park was at full capacity. There were many evacuees from the Gulf Coast who had arrived at their doorstep. After the Hurricane, many people in the area around Huntsville were without electricity. Heartland RV Park had electricity, so quite a few of these local residents found their way there to wait in their RVs until the power was restored at their homes. The true test of a business is how it operates during times of adversity. Heartland RV Park performed with the utmost of efficiency and professionalism during a very challenging ordeal. I know we speak for all the fortunate evacuees who found Heartland RV Park, as we say thank you to the owners and staff at the park. Your overwhelming kindness and hospitality made a rough situation much smoother. We would recommend Heartland RV Park to anyone who is traveling to or through Southeast Texas. What a thoughtful thing to do...We stayed at your park during Hurricane Rita on site 44. Our space was great and the park is very nice. Because we are old and had problems hooking up the manager came and totally hooked up our rig. It was very nice of you to help us. Thank you again, Deasmond & Marge Davis
